I actually missed most of the game tonight- I was in and out of the room and missed all of the 2nd period.. but caught the highlights and all I can say is..
HELLO Buffalo! We DISMANTLED the Red Wings tonight. Just out and out owned them up one side and down the other. I can't comment much on individual play but anytime the Sabres want to score 6 goals and only allow 2 I will take it. :) Also, superb work on the Penalty Shot, Mr. Miller.
And I forgot to set my fantasy team (again), whoops. Good thing for me I left Osgood on the bench so I didn't have to absorb his 9.16 GAA! WTF Ossie? Where you at, my man? I mean, I'm glad it happened against the Sabres but whoaa..
That's about it for the moment. I think I'll even have a hockey SAB for us tomorrow. :)

I'm just looking for a good time
Woooo what a game tonight. It was high on entertainment value, that's for sure. (and even if it was priced out of the average Sabres fan's budget, the Leaves seem to make the trip. It was kinda scary in there at times.. yeesh! Though none of the Leaves fans I talked to were rude, so that was refreshing.)
I had the 3 younger nephews tonight (ages 3, 5, and 12) since we had 4 tickets. I'm convinced that the 2 youngest are good luck charms. The Sabres are 4/4 this year for the games they have attended. Hmm..
Anyway on to the game.. way to start off with a bang, Sabres: goal 37 seconds in? I like it! :)
Timmay's goals were nice.. a lot of hard work and persistance. (works (almost) every time my friends..)
Pie-YAY!'s goal was just incredible. Wow... it was a wicked shot and did anyone notice how Butler carried the puck to the zone, dropped it to Danny then JUMPED out of the way of the shot so it could get through? SICK. I love that guy.
Derek Roy was sort of invisible tonight, eh? What was up with that?
I love me some GOOSE. He was going postal on some bitches tonight. "He was like hey- don't mess with my goalie, don't mess with my wingers, don't mess with me. Oh, you wanna mess with me? I'll mess with your FACE!" <33
The boys were playing scrappy, passionate hockey for (most of) the game and that's really all we ask for. Sure, wins are great, but play like you care and the wins will come a lot more.
Miller was great, it was so awesome to see him back out there. And the after the game celebration were cute.. Lalime was fighting his way through the other Sabres to get to Ryan.. it made me laugh.
My only issues tonight were the incessant penalties (I'm looking at YOU, Lydman!) and the mini-breakdown in the 3rd. But they recovered well and so they are forgiven for that. It was pretty darn interesting and tense for the last 10 mins or so of the 3rd. the place was going INSANE and I though the roof was gonna blow off when Goose scored goal #5.
Just a fantastic game to have been at tonight, I hope it was as good on tv. Speaking of TV, did anyone see a kid with a sign that said "No need to panic We've got Vanek"? He was right behind me. Pretty young guy, maybe 8 or 10 and he was really sad that his sign never made it to the jumbotron.
I guess that's about it. I'm super tired and still need a shower and such. All I've got to end is..

Wow are the Oilers this bad or are the Sabres this good? It's 4-0 Buffalo with 17 mins in the 2nd period. The boys scored on 2 of their first 3 shots.. this is sweet. Roy, Staffy, Paestch (say what?) and Hecht with goals so far. As my sis Brett said.. "Roloson needs to take nap. Or maybe he was napping." LOL Of course if anyone could blow a 4-0 lead, it would be the Sabres.
It's not too horrible watching a non-Sabres feed. It's not like we have RJ to listen to anyway and these guys are decent.
I have never even heard of half of the Oilers.
OOooh no Mair is broken now. Well, at least he's not a defenceman, but I hope he's okay anyway.
Watching western games always brings me back to the beginning of my hockey fandom, when I was dedicated to the Vancouver Canucks. They were not often on ESPN but you know that when they were (particularly the playoffs in 1994, the very beginning), I was staying up way too late and watching them. No matter that I had to be up at 6 for school, it was hockey and it was MY team and there was no chance I was missing it. Those were the days when I would watch any and all hockey I could get my hands on. The margins of my math and science and even occasionally history notebooks from high school were covered with hockey stats and facts and whatnot. I was obsessed and nothing made me happier than watching hockey. The love of hockey hasn't changed, though my notes are now online in the form of a blog and I don't watch the random games as much (evenings tend to be busy around here) but it's still hockey and it's still fun. ANd of course I live in the Buffalo area and watch as many Sabres games as I can but it will never be quite like the early days of hockey watching. I was thinking about that while watching the all-star game. It really made me miss Pavel Bure. I've babbled about Bure a few times on here so I'll spare you but he's been on my mind lately. I would pay good money for a DVD of Pavel Bure highlights. LOL
Okay.. back to the Sabres. Holy whoa there have been 137 coaching changes in the NHL since 1997 when Lindy Ruff was hired. He's so the man.
OH MY GOSH it is now 7-1 Sabres. This is hilarious but I feel kinda bad for the Oilers. Only a little though.. the Sabres need a game like this- perfect timing for it.
I just put a bid on an old Canucks Bure jersey. I own a black Canucks jersey (the old black, red and yellow ones) and I own a Pavel Bure jersey (Panthers) but I always wanted a Bure Canucks jersey so it's time. It's going for really cheap (I put a bid up to $25 cuz I don't need it but it'd be cool to own) and the bidding ends in 2 days so we'll see what happens. There are some sweet Pavel Bure items on ebay right now, including lots of white 'Nucks jerseys- which I always really wanted- but they are a lot more expensive. There is also a Pavel Bure watch, made by my Pavel's Great-Grandfather for the Czars of Russia. Mad sweet but way too expensive for my budget. It would be soooo cool to own one of those though, seriously. Oh well.
Hey guys, did I tell you that I'm going to Ottawa on Feb 6-8? My sis and I are participating in a triathalon- as a team- that includes an 8km skate on the Rideau canal (I'm doing that part), a 5k (I think) run (Renee' is doing that) and a cross-country skiing thing too (my sister's friend is doing that). Pretty sweet, eh? it should be fun. Our sister Brett is also coming along for the fun. We will be going to the Sabres/Sens game that Saturday night. I'm super excited about that because Sabres/Senators games are always fun and it's a great time to cheer for the other team- plus it's HOCKEY in Canada which is just brilliant. ;)
Wow Goose is bustin the commercials- Go Green and promo-ing the Infiniti car place. It's all good, he's looking rather dreamy so I'm not complaining. :)
Wow the Sabres really haven't played in Edmonton for 2 years? Weird. I def. like the whole every team plays every team thing. Good stuff.
Let's go around the NHL: Hot dang Rick Nash was the man tonight. He scored all 3 of CBJs goals, including the game winner in OT which was a sick goal too. Well done brutha.. OOoooh Ovie took a nasty hit to the boards but he came back later in the game so.. I hope he's good. I like him, I can't seem to help myself. And geez could the Caps have left Krejci any more ALONE to score that OT goal? That was lame horrible defence, my friends.
I really want to see CBJ go to the playoffs, it would make my Ohio-loving heart very happy. As of the moment, they are in. (dude on the broadcast just called him "Steve" Nash- no you ijdit[yeah I spelled it like that on purpose], it's RICK!) Ahem.. anyway I like the Blue Jackets, even though they always seem to play really well against us. I wasn't born there but I spent more time in Ohio than any other state (about 16 years) so I claim it as "home" and I want my "home" team to do well. They have amazing fans who always get made fun of (for no reason), a great arena (and a thriving Arena district in what was once the ghetto of Cbus), fantastic and well-liked ownership and Columbus is one of my favorite cities so it's time for them to get some love that doesn't start with The and end with Ohio State University.
Man I'm full of random tangents tonight. Okay boys it's 7-1 now and if you give it away, I will cry and disown all of you. Got it? That being said, continue to fire at will. :)

It helps that Royzie has a goal and 2 assists and Pommer and MacArthur also have 2 assists each. Marc Savard (forgot he was on my team LOL) has a goal, as does Elias. Sweetness. We have 12 pts tonight. It kinda sucks though in my other league, because Rick Nash has 3 goals (which is sweet) but I forgot to set up Nabokov as my goalie and he's working on a shutout! Grrrr.
Whoa Edmonton scored. Ha. They cheered pretty heartily for him though.
Sweet move, Timmay-a shortie even! It's 10-2 now my friends. What a lovely game. There have been worlds of penalties though. Oh well, doesn't seem to be hurting the Sabres at all. LOL They are even playing good D even though it totally doesn't matter at this point.
Sick game, boyos. It was a blowout but it was still quite well-played, all around. REMEMBER THIS FEELING WHEN YOU CONTINUE THIS ROAD TRIP, MY FRIENDS. :)
And with that, I'm off to shower and get some sleep. I went sledding and playing outside for 2 hours today, I'm tired!

In which I whine a little
Sorta halfway watching the Sabres/Wild game.
I hate the Wild's "christmastime" jerseys. Yick.
I came home, turned on the game and the boys were up 1-0. Walked out of the room and Min scored. Came back in and they scored again. Double Yick.
Aside to Derek Roy- PLEASE score a goal. Soon. This is making me crazy. And right now you are dragging down my fantasy team. Get with it bro.
To the Defencemen- Seriously guys, I know el Captain is out but there is only one of him. There are 6 of you. Surely you can pick up the slack? Thanks.
Ew Cellino and Barnes. Triple Yick.
Man, Clutterbuck is kind of a rough last name. Poor guy. He's from Welland ONT, just like Paille and Ellis.
Yeesh I am tired.
Oh puke. Ryan Miller just tried to clear the puck and put it into his own net. Poor guy. This sucks.
Not a good hockey night- my fantasy teams are not doing well either. C'mon guys! DO SOMETHING!
Can I just say I am 328598745% OVER Tim Connolly? I never liked him that much to start with and he's too broken all the time. I think he's overrated and I'm tired of waiting for him to not be broken. Blah.
Also sick of reading about how much the Sabres are going to miss Campbell on defence. In case y'all didn't notice, Soupy didn't play much DEFENCE- he was more about trying to score goals and making fancy spin o ramas in front of his own net. Oh yeah, that. Oh and distracting himself and his team by squabbling over money and being a general loser. Do we miss him? No. Well I sure as hell don't. So stop talking about it, you hockey writers! ARGH. Rivet is like a zillion times the d-man that Soupy will ever be.
Phew. Enough of that.
I do enjoy the way RJ says "Bergeron", the french way which swallows the last "n" a little bit. Don't know why I enjoy it but I do.
As soon as this game is over I am showering and peaceing. I am way tired. It's weird because I barely did anything today- I had my nephews but we didn't go anywhere or anything. It was a good day. We raked leaves and played in them. Haha good times. Much more fun than this game right now. Blah.
Oh and Hershel Gelber commercials are very poorly acted. Dude could you at least *try* to be a little more sincere?
Good only 6 more minutes of torture.
Woo my man Sloaner is playing for Washington again. He has 1:31 of ice time so far and they are only 5 min into the game so that's quality. :) I wish I could watch it!

this is my jam
My poor neglected hockey blog. It's not that I don't love you but I have been SO busy the last week or so that I am about to lose my mind. And it's not going to get any better. Yeesh.
I missed most of Fridays game- anybody want to clue me in about the altercation Royzie had with the Vancouver bench that resulted in Petey having a GOOD??! fight? I was on my way back from Fair Haven NY which is up on Lake Ontario rather northeast of Rochester (I couldhave GONE to the game but my parents were coming up and I told them I'd go check out this property with them and since I don't see them often- they live in Ohio- I didn't want to ditch for a hockey game. It would have been rude and things were a little weird with my fam lately anyway so I wanted to keep it cool.) and WGR has a WEAK signal! I was on the 90, passing Roch and still couldn't get it, in Batavia and picking up signals from Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton, Cleveland, CINCI-EFFING-NNATI and not Buffalo. W.T.F.? It was irritating. I finally was able to tune in partway through the 2nd and made it home in time to watch most of the 3rd but it wasn't the same as what I heard to be a very entertaining first period. Oh well.
And Saturday I was busy eating dinner and cleaning the basement with my nephews so I missed most of the game. I had it on in the background and I don't think there was much *to* miss so it wasn't too bad. I look forward to actually sitting down and WATCHING a game soon. It won't be Tuesday though because I have other things to do. Rats.
I'm glad Vanek is bustin goals. That's what we pay him for. He seems so much more relaxed than last year and that is HUGE. On the other hand, poor Staffy can't seem to buy a goal and Royzie looks like crap. He seems kinda tense and uncertain with the puck which is not really his style. I don't know what's up with him but he needs to shape it up and soon. I'm SO glad Pommer got a goal too, because he looked like he was starting to get frustrated with it. Just relax fellas. It will happen.
In non Sabre hockey news- why is Osgood playing so poorly so far this season? He has surrendered 4 goals in 3 straight games. TERRIBLE! C'mon Ossie, get with it dude. (he's also on BOTH of my fantasy teams.. eek!) In other fantasy hockey news, my RedRogues team is owning right now, 12-2 and my Into the Boards (IPB AmazingLeague) just squeaked by with the win (I think- remember I can't make Stattracker work on my stupid laptop and the desktop is out of commission because my keyboard died very dead today) so I'm not certain of up-to-the-minute stats but I believe I made it with a 6-4 victory. Tomorrow will tell. WOOOT! Fantasy hockey is FUN!

I was on the 90, passing Roch and still couldn't get it, in Batavia and picking up signals from Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton, Cleveland, CINCI-EFFING-NNATI and not Buffalo. W.T.F.? It was irritating. I finally was able to tune in partway through the 2nd and made it home in time to watch most of the 3rd but it wasn't the same as what I heard to be a very entertaining first period. Oh well.
And Saturday I was busy eating dinner and cleaning the basement with my nephews so I missed most of the game. I had it on in the background and I don't think there was much *to* miss so it wasn't too bad. I look forward to actually sitting down and WATCHING a game soon. It won't be Tuesday though because I have other things to do. Rats.
I'm glad Vanek is bustin goals. That's what we pay him for. He seems so much more relaxed than last year and that is HUGE. On the other hand, poor Staffy can't seem to buy a goal and Royzie looks like crap. He seems kinda tense and uncertain with the puck which is not really his style. I don't know what's up with him but he needs to shape it up and soon. I'm SO glad Pommer got a goal too, because he looked like he was starting to get frustrated with it. Just relax fellas. It will happen.
In non Sabre hockey news- why is Osgood playing so poorly so far this season? He has surrendered 4 goals in 3 straight games. TERRIBLE! C'mon Ossie, get with it dude. (he's also on BOTH of my fantasy teams.. eek!) In other fantasy hockey news, my RedRogues team is owning right now, 12-2 and my Into the Boards (IPB AmazingLeague) just squeaked by with the win (I think- remember I can't make Stattracker work on my stupid laptop and the desktop is out of commission because my keyboard died very dead today) so I'm not certain of up-to-the-minute stats but I believe I made it with a 6-4 victory. Tomorrow will tell. WOOOT! Fantasy hockey is FUN!

Word. my fantasy teams are laying some smack down on my opponents this week. Keep it up fellas!
And the Sabres cleaned house with the Rangers tonight spoiling the Rangers' bid for the best start in franchise history. (A mere 6-0 would be the best start in franchise history for an original 6 team?! WEAK.) HAHAHAHA! Good job Sabres! 2 PP and a shortie. That is good stuff.
Vanek's lookin good so far.
Royzie is illin. Stop reeking my man. This is not good. Get it together.
Enough with the short ghetto sentences.

Friday night and I just got back

Sabres win in a SHOOTOUT!
AND I. WAS. THERE. (!)
Details to come my friends but now I need sleep. I have to work tomorrow and we're having ppl for dinner but eventually I will be back to re-cap the game. Good times.
Let's GO BUFFALO!
One thought- WHY On earth were there so dang many Habs fans tonight? It was like an invasion. And the real jerky ones were all around ME. Grrrr. More on that tomorrow as well.
