wow

Even if I can't manage to blog regularly about the Sabres (and I have yet to see a game because my life is stupidly busy) I still am trying hard to do my Separated at Births so here is this week's edition: (not my best work, but I'm still seeing it)

-Actor Sage Brocklebank (better known as Buzz McNabb on USA's Psych

AND

-Zach Parise of the Devils

Separated at Birth? You be the judge.

Don't see it? tell me! (that's what comments are for)
Suggestions? Tell me! :)

And soon I'll publish some hockey songs.. heh heh and possibly watch a Sabres game so I can talk about them. WOO!

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

let's play

So the Sabres are 2-0.

I watched part of both games but didn't blog about it. It was fun though.

But it's Wednesday again and I am trying to be a good blogger and keep up with my SABs so here ya go..

-Former Syracuse Crunch player Jeremy Reich (he spent a few games in C-bus too)

And

-Current Blue Jacket Derek Dorsett.
Separated at Birth??
Reich is a bit more thuggish ruggish but I'm seein it..

bring it back!

Well the season starts tomorrow- so in honor of that, and the fact that my sis pointed this out last weekend and I have to share.. I'm bringing back Wednesday Hockey Separated at Birth! I'm going to try and do this every Wednesday but no guarantees.

So without further ado, I present you with..

-Tom Felton (most well-known as Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter movies)

AND

-Jeff Carter- of the Blue Jackets (formerly a Flyer, and since he looks like Mr. Felton, and used to be a flyer, he in henceforth known as Felon. Yep. But don't feel too bad, I have also christened Ville Leino (a Sabre who is also a former flyer Villain, so he's in good company.)

Separated at Birth? Brett (my sis) thinks so.. do you?

Bring on the hockey! :)

Happy Playoffs

PLayoffs start today! :) I will have some predictions soon.. but for now, I will bring back the old Hockey Separated at Birth. No time like the present, eh?

-Pat Monahan- lead singer of the band Train

AND

-Day Boyle of the San Jose Sharks

Separated at Birth? YOU be the judge!

Wednesdays are for..

It's Wednesday and I have a hockey SAB for you, my friends. :)

I also have a few links to share.
Puck Daddy's Mid-Season MVP list
-Pretty good list here. I love that Sharpie and Kes made the cut. I would have put Royzie as the Sabres MVP because he was getting it done, unlike some other mofos. He picked Vanek, who hasn't been as good. (and not just cuz I'm a Derek Roy fan!) It's worth a read though- he has some interesting insights into teams I don't pay much attention to.

and
Puck Daddy's Mid-Season Goats- underperformers
- I think he's pretty on-par here too. Thank you for picking Timmay for the Sabres! See, it's not just me that thinks Connolly is a piece of crap. YAY! He is so harsh on Marty Brodeur though- but it is warranted. Marty's season has been abysmal. Poor dude- I do not know what is up with him! Another interesting read.

And now, on to the main event- this week's SAB. I was watching Prince Caspian the other night, which is a pretty fun movie. I am reading the Chronicles of Narnia- something I've always meant to do but never did. I read The Lion, The Witch, and the Warderobe forever ago, and have seen the old movies and the new one and saw it as a play once, but never checked the others. They are good books and quick reads. :) Anyway, so watching Caspian, I noticed a totally random SAB. I already used Ben Barnes as a Hockey SAB with Kris Letang.. this one is some random dude I don't even have a name for-he's one of Miraz's advisers and I don't even know who
the actor is, but he looks like..

Ryan Kesler!

Separated at birth? YOU be the judge!

Pretty crazy, eh? I had to rewind it and grab a screenshot- thank goodness I was watching it on the laptop, so it was easy. WEIRD. And again, I have no clue who the actor even is- maybe it is Kes! He has many talents, perhaps acting is one of them?

okat this is just creepy

I have no idea how I haven't used this hockey SAB before, but it must be shared now. *I meant to post on Wednesday, but this week has gotten away from me a bit*

This one is really intense, because I saw him on tv the other night, and literally thought he was someone else- so that's when you KNOW a hockey SAB is imminent- so without further ado:

-Rangers coach John Tortorella

AND

-former player and current analyst, Ray Ferarro. (who was used earlier as a hockey SAB with football player Kurt Warner)

DUDE. I really did see Torts on MSG the other night in passing and thought he was Ray. That was wild. Separated at birth? YOU be the judge!

it's wednesday!

I still have that post wherein I wax poetic about the Canucks and hockey and rah rah rah memories... but it's still stuck in my head.

However, it is Wednesday, and that sometimes means that I provide you with a hockey SAB. Tonight, I have one that I noticed at the game on Monday.

-Criminal Minds actor Matthew Gray Gubler

AND

-Babyfaced Canuck Mason Raymond

spice it up

Today is Wednesday.

Hockey starts tomorrow! for really for realz. :) I am soooo excited and ready to roll.

So, in honor of the return of hockey, I present you the return of Hockey Separated at Birth.. I am going to try and make it a weekly thing again, because I enjoy doing them. (It may also help me to post more..)

This one was inspired by a post that Anne wrote over at Queen City Sabres about the Kings. Enjoy!

Today we have:

The ever-lovely (even though I won't watch "Supernatural" because it's too creepy) Jensen Ackles

AND

LA Kings goalie Jonathan Bernier.

Separated at Birth? YOU be the judge. Anne used that pic of Bernier and I was immediately struck with the likeness.. and some definite hotness. :)

Saturday, September 25, 2010

I didn't want to wait till Wednesday

We're watching VH1s top artists of all time.. and Bruce Springsteen was on. I always think he's totally scraggly but still kinda hot. Then I noticed something.. he looked like a certain rugged hockey player that is also hot. SO without further ado, I give you a random hockey SAB.

The BOSS

and

Brendan Shanahan

Separated at Birth? YOU be the judge!

sometimes, I amaze even myself

Wow guys, I don't know why this took so long- it is SUPER obvious..

I have a SAB for you, that I've been sitting on for WEEKs, but since it's Wednesday, I will now share it with you fine readers. :)

I present to you:

-Mark Tremonti- guitarist from Creed/Alter Bridge

AND

-Ryan Getzlaf of the Anaheim Ducks.

Separated at Birth? YOU be the judge!

That is just uncanny, and I don't know why it took so long to put together in my mind. I'm not really a fan of Getzi (unlike many of my friends) so I don't look at him much, and I haven't cared about Creed or Mark Tremonti in ages so maybe that's it.. but this a match made in heaven. WOW.

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

so ya see..

I haven't been watching nearly as much hockey as I should lately.. I am busy with another play. I guess it's actually okay that the Sabres aren't in the playoffs anymore, because I would have to miss a lot of games and that would make me sad.

So yeah. I'm sad that the Wings are out, but I wasn't expecting them to get past the first round anyway. Yay for Montreal beating Pittsburgh and what is up with Philly? Oh well I don't like Boston or Philadelphia so I want Montreal to win the East at this point. Whoa, scary though, eh?

In the West, though I enjoy the Canucks, I must say that I like the Blackhawks more. I only saw part of one game in the series cuz I'm a slacker like that but yay for Chicago winning! :)

And since it's Wednesday and I actually have one- suggested by my dear sister Brett, here is a Hockey SAB for you:

-Actor Aaron Eckhart- seen recently as Harvey Dent in "The Dark Knight"

AND

-Former player/Current Asst Coach of the Habs, Kirk Muller

Separated at Birth? YOU be the judge. I think it's a pretty good one, but again, I can't claim it- my sis sent it to my attention. She's got a good eye, non?

I hope to see some more of the Conference Finals but not guarantees- the next 2 weeks are gonna be BUSY!

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

'Bout that time, eh chap?

I know I've been neglecting it lately (my last one was JANUARY? Goodness sakes, I'm a bit of a failure in this department, eh?) but this Hockey SAB hit me so hard I couldn't let it bide. Luckily, it's already Wednesday (clock-wise) so it even fits into the grand scheme of things quite nicely.

As much as i don't like to even think the name of this fellow, the resemblance is uncanny and must be discussed. So without further ado (or confusing comments), I give you this week's Hockey Separated at Birth:

-Random actor Sean Marquette (seen most recently by me on "In Plain Sight" but has had bit parts in several CSI and other such shows)

AND

-He Who Must No Be Named (a.k.a. Danny Briere- remember, the fear of a name only increases the fear of the thing itself!)

Separated at Birth? YOU be the judge! It's kind of uncanny, non? And in the show I was watching, he had this scraggly beard thing going on, much as Danny often does, 'specially in the playoffs. Can't say as I would know if he has such going on at this time, SINCE VERSUS DECIDED NOT TO CARRY ANY GAMES FROM THAT SERIES! And no, I'm not over it.

Thursday, January 28, 2010

I haven't forgotten

AND today is Wednesday (well it was anyway) and I have a SAB for you!

-Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner

AND

-Former NHLer and analyst Ray 'Chicken Parm' Ferraro

Separated at Birth? YOU be the judge!

*That's one thing to like about watching football- it has provided me with a few SABs now. Very useful because I was running out there for a bit. :)

continuing the Blackhawks love..

Business first..

Are the Sabres ever playing again? Just wonderin.

I wrote up the stare-off the other day when I was bored out of my mind at work but I don't feel like typing it out right now so.. you will have to wait.

I am very tired because I've been working in my yard trying to create some ice so I can skate. It's working.. I think. But the process is a very long one so it will be next week before any skating can be done. But.. I think it might actually happen this year! *crosses fingers*

Anyway I do have a SAB for you this week. trying to stay on top of things, and in keeping with the latest trend of Blackhawks love, I present this week's entry:

-My lover Adam Burish from the 'Hawks

AND

-Actor Russell Crowe

Separated at Birth? YOU be the judge. I like it, personally. :)

Back on track

Hello Friends and Neighbo(u)rs.

GO USA! I'm happy they won the WJC, even though I don't really follow. (ahem, CAN'T watch the games even if I wanted to!)
*Side note, what is up with that? The WJC games are only available on TSN and the NHL Network? I don't live in Canada and I don't have the NHL Network. I do, however, get all ESPN channels, as well as VS and CBC but that's not enough. Nope. Boo on that!*

Meanwhile.. the young Americans showed some spunk and surprised Canada and everyone else by winning the tourney. As a fellow countryman (woman?), I say: well done, lads! And that's about all the commentary I have on the game as I was unable to watch it.

Moving right along. The Sabres won another game tonight. This time they were ahead 3-0 and almost lost it, but managed to recover enough to win the game 5-3. I halfway watched about half of the game. That is to say that the game was on, and I watched part of the 1st and 2nd period then read my stack of The Hockey News issues I'd been neglecting (and did the crosswords) while listening to/glancing at the 3rd period. I've seen worse but I've seen better too. But a W is a W and that's 5 in a row for the Sabres (first one of the 5 that I finally got to actually watch tonight, I've been away) and that is greatness. The boyos are also 2nd in the conf (tied with the Caps, who re-signed T-Sloan for 2 more years--SWEET!) and well in first for the division. Excellent. :)

I really must be getting some sleep, but with the new year I'm trying to get back on top of things like posting in this humble blog and re-upping on one of my favorite features of FFITB, which is, of course, the "Hockey Separated at Birth". I've been quite inspired lately so there should be a slew of them headed your way in the new few weeks. :) Enjoy tonight's issue: (major props to my dear friend Emmy for the suggestion of this one.... it's hilarious!) :)

-Brent Seabrook of the Blackhawks*

AND

-"Eddie Munster" played by Butch Patrick

C'mon.. tell me that's not a Separated at Birth? You be the judge. :) (if you can stop laughing long enough.)

*Seabs is one of the newly named "Blackhawks Trifecta of Hotness" (a.k.a. Patrick Sharp, Adam Burrish, and Brent Seabrook) that I am currently rather smitten with. I will elaborate on this in a later (but soon) post. In fact, I have another ridiculous post up my sleeve regarding Jonathon Toews' crazy eyes vs. Ryan Miller's eyebrow and all sorts of madness. Stay tuned, things are gonna get fun around here again! :)

finallllly

I haven't done a SAB since November 17, but I finally have a new one! I'm so excited about that. So without further ado, I present you with

Patrik Berglund of the Blues

AND

Actor James Van Der Beek.

Separated at Birth? YOU be the judge!

And tonight will be the Blackhawks/Devils game. Expect a squee/spaz post soon about Sharpie and lots of lovely pictures. :) YAY!

Happy New Year!

I've been savin it

I met Tim Connolly!

I wanted this to be its own post.. but check it, guys and gals:

Pretty cool, eh?

Now it looks like one of those stupid chain letter e-mails. Haha. No peeking!

In all seriousness, I did not meet THE Tim Connolly, or even someone of that name, though the fella in the pic, whose name is Mike, btw, looks an awful lot like our buddy Timmy. Photobucket (refresher pic)

Mike is friends with my friend Bryan and was at our church's dinner dance on Saturday night. I couldn't help but notice he looked like Tim, and I pointed it out.. He said he gets that a lot. Once, he was at a bar and was upstairs (I take it there was sort of a balcony thing going on, you could see the 2nd floor from the ground floor) Ryan Miller and some other Sabres- he can't remember all of them, thinks Pommer was one, walked in. Mike was there with his friends. The next thing he knew the bartender was giving him a drink. Mike says- 'who is this from?' the guy responds that it's from 'your friends..' Mike looks at his buddies, no one did it. Bartender says- 'Your friends the Sabres, downstairs.' So Mike goes down and walks up to Miller, says "thanks for the drink, buddy." Ryan is like.. uh do I know you? Mike tells him that Miller bought him a drink, and he was upstairs. To which Ryan Miller replies "We thought you were Tim!" Hahaha great story and I could totally see it.

So that's an amusing Sabres bit for today, as well as this week's hockey SAB- my new friend Mike, and Timmay Connolly. (this is Tim's 3rd appearance as a hockey SAB, and I don't even like the guy all that much. Wow.)

This is freaky

I promised to get back on track with the Hockey SABs so I found a really good one for today. It hit me completely randomly.. I just grabbed on the first name I came up with, which was for some reason (I was looking at my fantasy stats right before this) Ethan Moreau. I couldn't picture his face in my mind, though I had a vague recollection that he was a nice lookin fella. Little did I know just how nice.

So I called up some google images and what to my surprise did I behold but? Moreau looks quite like one of our beloved Sabres. But don't let me tell you, look for yourself:

-Ethan Moreau of the Oilers

AND

-Paul 'Goose' Gaustad of the Sabres.

Separated at Birth? YOU be the judge. It might all be in my head, but that is kind of uncanny. They could be brothers.

C'est tout!

CPR

Time to revive the ole standby of Hockey Separated at Birth! (I will try to have a new one every Wednesday of the Season.. and as always if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to send 'em in!)

So I bring you the first one of the 2009-2010 season:

-Mike Modano of the Stars

AND

-Kevin Costner- circa 1991- a la "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves"

Separated at Birth? YOU be the judge!
I think the resemblance is most striking in the Robin Hood days, from the obvious standpoint of the mullet, etc but there is definitely some correlation between the two, non?

:)

I think that eventually I'll revive my hockey songs-- I have a few I still need to share with y'all, and maybe one day I'll write some new ones. I need to get this blog back into shape, since the season is underway! :)

I know that I missed it but this is too good

I've been massively slacking on the Hockey SABs lately (and it's Thursday, not Wednesday) , but with no actual hockey to watch, it becomes difficult to find them sometimes. However, yesterday when Anne listed her Western Conference Boyfriends for the year, I was struck by one photo in particular.

You can tell me what you think- it may just be the superficial "crusty old man" look that they have going on, but there is a definite resemblance here.

Without further ado, I give you..

-Everyone's favorite "Is he retired or not?" Contestant, Brett (I-cant-say-my-name-right: it should be Fah-Vray, not Farrrrve, but I digress) Favre

AND

-The crustiest of the old crusties still in the NHL (minus, perhaps Rod the Bod Brind'Amour, if he's still kickin) Owen Nolan

I'm feelin it. Separated at Birth? You be the judge.

I may write up a preview or something soonish, or I may not. I won't be at PuckDrop oon Saturday as I have callbacks for a play I just auditioned for but it is all good because ONE WEEK from now I will have seen the first Sabres hockey of the year. (and Tyler Sloan too, if I'm lucky)

HUZZAH! :)
