Goodness, I feel like I should be live-blogging this game just to keep track of the randomness that is Doc Emrick.

He was just talking about a pass that didn't make it... and it went something like this.."he was hoping it would connect, but we all have hopes in this world..." and then back to the play. What the what?

haha so yeah with that great intro, here we are in the 2nd period of the Sabres v. Rangers. it's so nice to see the Sabres on tv. *And a decent game, so far. Better than the Chicago game.. yesssh that one was rough. They are playing decently tonight, other than some turnovers. But the pressure is there and their defence is pretty legit.

I like this Gerbe-Ennis-Kassian line. It's pretty solid.

Speaking of my boy- he is really fast and feisty tonight. He REALLY wants a goal. Maybe tonight will be his night?

Wow I totally bailed on this blog. I saw parts of the 3rd period but we had a friend stop over so my attention was divided.

And then the boys lost in a shootout.

BUT this was not a bad game at all. The Rangers are very good but the Sabres hung with them and Miller played very well.

Good job fellas. Keep building!

I wonder as I wander

So the Sabres seem to be on quite a roll these days. I saw the end of last night's game- and that smokin OT goal by the new guy. What spunk, what drive-- who are these Sabres and where have they been all my life?

Good on them. :) I will continue my practice of sort of ignoring them, because they seem to play better when I do. I can take one for the team.. for a while at least. Doesn't mean I don't care, just means I know when to not care. Or something of the sort.

In other news... anyone heard or seen anything about Derek Roy lately? I miss my boy- haven't heard a peep about his rehab since January. I wonder how he's doing. Maybe I'll send a note to the Sabres suggestion box that they give him a shout..

Back on track

Hello Friends and Neighbo(u)rs.

GO USA! I'm happy they won the WJC, even though I don't really follow. (ahem, CAN'T watch the games even if I wanted to!)
*Side note, what is up with that? The WJC games are only available on TSN and the NHL Network? I don't live in Canada and I don't have the NHL Network. I do, however, get all ESPN channels, as well as VS and CBC but that's not enough. Nope. Boo on that!*

Meanwhile.. the young Americans showed some spunk and surprised Canada and everyone else by winning the tourney. As a fellow countryman (woman?), I say: well done, lads! And that's about all the commentary I have on the game as I was unable to watch it.

Moving right along. The Sabres won another game tonight. This time they were ahead 3-0 and almost lost it, but managed to recover enough to win the game 5-3. I halfway watched about half of the game. That is to say that the game was on, and I watched part of the 1st and 2nd period then read my stack of The Hockey News issues I'd been neglecting (and did the crosswords) while listening to/glancing at the 3rd period. I've seen worse but I've seen better too. But a W is a W and that's 5 in a row for the Sabres (first one of the 5 that I finally got to actually watch tonight, I've been away) and that is greatness. The boyos are also 2nd in the conf (tied with the Caps, who re-signed T-Sloan for 2 more years--SWEET!) and well in first for the division. Excellent. :)

I really must be getting some sleep, but with the new year I'm trying to get back on top of things like posting in this humble blog and re-upping on one of my favorite features of FFITB, which is, of course, the "Hockey Separated at Birth". I've been quite inspired lately so there should be a slew of them headed your way in the new few weeks. :) Enjoy tonight's issue: (major props to my dear friend Emmy for the suggestion of this one.... it's hilarious!) :)

-Brent Seabrook of the Blackhawks*

AND

-"Eddie Munster" played by Butch Patrick

C'mon.. tell me that's not a Separated at Birth? You be the judge. :) (if you can stop laughing long enough.)

*Seabs is one of the newly named "Blackhawks Trifecta of Hotness" (a.k.a. Patrick Sharp, Adam Burrish, and Brent Seabrook) that I am currently rather smitten with. I will elaborate on this in a later (but soon) post. In fact, I have another ridiculous post up my sleeve regarding Jonathon Toews' crazy eyes vs. Ryan Miller's eyebrow and all sorts of madness. Stay tuned, things are gonna get fun around here again! :)

what do you know?

Wow.. what a week for the Sabres.

Monday-- they forgot to show up and played like they were skating throgh sludge all night to allow Marty his 103rd career shutout.

Wednesday- the 'good' Sabres showed up against a red-hot Capitals team and shadowed Ovie like a second skin (good job, Yo-Yo) AND kept the rest of those snipers from hitting the net to earn a sick, solid, 3-0 win of their own.

Friday- Lalime steps in against a streaking Blackhawks team and calmly turns aside 3498765 shots (okay, it was 38 but still!) to keep the fellas in a game that they thought started at 8:00 instead of 7:30. And boy, were those last few minutes tense or what? GREAT GAME!

Saturday- (I missed this whole game except for a few minutes of the 2nd which I listened to in the car) Patrick Kaleta has 2 goals.

Wait... come again? Yes, you heard that correctly, Patrick Kaleta has 2 goals and the Sabres beat the grossBadGuyRangers for their 3rd win in a row.

I LIKE THESESabres! Can we keep them? Please, mom, can we???

:)
